Enhanced recovery for fractured neck of femur patients
2012 August 31
Today I was talking to a colleague about introducing the principles of enhanced recovery to fractured neck of femur pathways. Amongst other resources I signposted him to this excellent presentation by Dr Swart from Torbay.
The average LOS for fractured neck of femur in the UK is still 18-20 days.
There is work for us all to do in order to improve fractured neck of femur pathways. This presentation from Torbay shows what can be achieved.

Hi Helen,
Thanks for your question. Are you coming to the UKERAS conference this friday in Cheltenham? There is a workshop at the conference on ER after fractured neck of femur. There will be presentations and opportunity for questions, interaction, and networking.
Kind regards
Tom
Hi
We are just starting to consider ERAS for fractured neck of femur at NUH in Nottingham. Do you have information on any other Trusts with a successful pathway . Dr Swarts presentation is really interesting but I can’t save it to share with others?
Thanks
Helen
